1. Exercise
This may seem like a no-brainer but recent studies show exercising for 20 minutes reduces inflammation throughout the body. Just 20 minutes of swimming, walking, dancing, yoga, and vacuuming(for those short on time you get a workout and a clean floor haha) stimulates your body’s immune system to produce its natural anti-inflammatory response on the cellular level! Besides reducing inflammation, regular exercise improves physical and cardiovascular health, and boosts mood, alertness, and concentration.
You are what you eat, and if you’re like most Americans it’s likely you consume the standard American diet which is low in fiber, high in saturated fats, high sugar intake, and low in fruit and vegetables. Studies suggest joint pain can be greatly eased or greatly increased simply by what foods we choose to nourish our bodies with. To naturally manage inflammation in any part of your body you want to focus on incorporating foods that reduce inflammation while also limiting foods known to cause inflammation.
- fatty fish (salmon, tuna, etc)
- leafy greens (spinach, kale, etc)
- fruit
- vegetables
It would be worth it to try the Autoimmune Protocol diet (AIP). It’s a elimination diet that focuses on reducing inflammation by rooting out hidden food sensitivities. Click here to learn everything you need to know.

2. Turmeric
Turmeric is a spice that comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant. Curcumin is the most active compound in turmeric and is a popular for its potent anti-inflammatory properties and alleviating joint pain. There are many ways you can take turmeric such as supplements in pill form, drinking a cup of turmeric tea(I’ll link my favorite below), or adding it to your cooking. I have tried every way of inincorporatingurmeric into my diet and in my personal opinion, I had the most noticeable and quickest relief from joint pain drinking this tea. This is my favorite one I’ve tried so far. I will say, it took me a second to get used to the taste, but now I find myself craving it for the benefits and relief.
3. CBD
CBD is my favorite way of managing inflammation because I’m in love with the products I use. Truly beauty by far has the best CBD products that actually work for me. I swear by the Blueberry kush lotion, Unicorn CBD body butter, and the rest of the Blueberry kush collection. CBD is known to reduce inflammation when applied topically but I’ve found not all CBD brands work the same. I swear by truly because I feel results almost immediately and their products do wonders for my dry skin.

4. Cats Claw
Cats Claw is a tropical vine that contains chemicals called tannins and sterols. These chemicals naturally reduce inflammation. Cats claw is also known for other powerful healing properties such as killing cancer cells, immune system stimulation, and fighting viruses. You can get your daily dose of cats claw in many forms; supplement, tea, liquid extract, or powder. Within a week of consistently taking cat claw the pain in my knees disappeared. This is the tea I drink, but I also keep cats claw in supplement form. Because I don’t always want to drink 3-5 teas a day.
5. Ginger
Ginger is a powerful root that contains chemicals that are antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidants. Ginger has been known to reduce severe inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. You can get your daily ginger in through teas, supplements, juice shots, juicing, or incorporating it into your dishes. The tea I have linked contains turmeric and ginger. I know it can seem like a lot adding tons of teas or supplements into your diet. So this tea knocks out two birds with one stone so you can get your turmeric and ginger in all in one go.
