Reversing Autoimmune disease New Years resolutions

December 28, 2022 · In: gut health, Self-care

With the new year quickly approaching it’s the perfect time to start making a plan of action to reverse the symptoms of Autoimmune diseases. New years resolutions help you start the year off right by focusing on your goals. In today’s post, I’m going to cover everything that was on my news years resolutions list last year. Which helped me reverse the symptoms of my Autoimmune diseases.

Gut health

70-80% of your immune system lives in your gut so the state of your gut 100% affects your overall health. To start reversing your Autoimmune disease, look into what gut health is, how to have a healthy one, and habits you need to drop/ incorporate to do so. This is where you want to start. Check out our blog post concerning gut health. I would love to go more in-depth today but gut health in relation to Autoimmunity is not a quick topic to address. A few other gut health post will be link below.

Diet

The old saying you are what you eat rings true when it comes to healing your body. Let the year 2023 be the year you fuel your body via food. Fueling my body with food was a mindset change for me. I used to look at food as pleasure instead of the fuel my body needs. I filled my body with processed, non-nutritional foods that caused inflammation, brain fog, and a sugar imbalance. Since I’ve looked at food as fuel and changed not only my eating habits but my diet. I no longer binge eat nor crave sugar constantly.

I focus on eating anti-inflammatory Whole Foods. Check out “Why I choose a paleo diet to heal my Autoimmune diseases”. To learn more on how I decided what was right for me!

Self-care

There are so many little habits that are easy to overlook that take down our overall health. In 2023 focus on getting on a normal sleep schedule, exercising consistently, and taking care of your mind. With everything going on in our day-to-day life it’s hard to focus on the little things. But the odds and ends add up. For example, an irregular sleep schedule can put you at a higher risk for high blood sugar, hypertension, metabolic issues, etc. It’s easy to overlook the little habits that are hurting our overall health.

“Treating your body right” can look different for everybody. Find what makes you feel the best. That is my goal for 2023. It’s all about trial and error. Either way you are taking the steps to get in tune with your bodies needs.

Toxic

Removing yourself from toxic situations and people will not only allow you to mentally heal but physically heal. Unhealthy relationships can produce stress, depression, and anxiety. Stress has been linked to autoimmunity click here to read our post. Let’s leave toxic people and relationships back in 2022 and allow ourselves time to heal.

Cutting off toxic relationships can be extremely difficult for most people. Personally, I had to make a decision it was me or them. Once I had realized how allowing toxic relationships to continue in my life directly affected my health. It was no longer a choice it came down to finally choosing myself. Which is something I wasn’t used to doing. Doing this made me really appreciate alone time and value having a healthy relationship with myself.

On average it takes around 60 days before a new habit becomes automatic. Give yourself two months of eating food that nourishes your body, exercising regularly, focusing on yourself, and investing in yourself. I know it’s easier to stay where you are now and be comfortable. But being comfortable is all you know at the moment. And you owe it to yourself to at least try. Give it 60 days and reevaluate how you feel and the severity of your symptoms. I had to learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. And it’s one of the best things I have ever done.

To help you on your healing journey click here to check out our free resource library. There you will find printables that can help you track your symptoms and their severity. This can help show the data right in front of you if the changes you have made are working or not. I found this really helpful and a huge source of motivation to keep on my healing journey. It’s all about the little wins and finding ways that help you stay consistent on your journey. Leave your new years resolution in the comments below we would love to know!
