This strawberry banana smoothie recipe is easy, quick, promotes gut health, and is the best smoothie to make for a summer day. It’s a refreshing treat made with whole ingredients that nourish your body and your sweet tooth. It can be made with or without dairy making it a good option for a Paleo smoothie!
I love a good strawberry banana smoothie – especially one that is extra sweet. If you’re looking for a recipe that is all-natural and doesn’t make you miss artificial sweeteners you have found the one. This one was inspired by a local smoothie shop I used to frequent until my favorite smoothie’s price got raised to $8. I just couldn’t justify spending almost $10 bucks on a smoothie that didn’t even have protein in it. Your wallet with thank you for this recipe!
My mom and I have been making up new recipes almost every day and having each other try them. Even though a strawberry banana smoothie is one of the most basic smoothies it always hits the spot. Out of all the crazy and exotic recipes we have tried this was both of our favorite of the week and is almost identical to my favorite smoothie from the shop I talked about earlier! So I had to share it! Let’s take a look at the ingredients.
Ingredients
- Frozen strawberries
- Frozen banana
- Yogurt of choice
- Almond milk or coconut water
- Honey
- Ground flax seed
- Optional: protein collagen powder
Prep
You have to use frozen fruit for a good smoothie. I don’t make the rules, it’s just a must to prepare your fruit by freezing. A watery smoothie with unfrozen fruit is a nightmare to me so I make sure to freeze my fruit overnight before I plan to make a smoothie.

Make it a protein smoothie
Adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder is a great way to make a smoothie more filling and nutritious. I have been using the BUBS Naturals collagen protein powder recently. It’s Paleo and Whole 30 compliant! I have never gotten bloated after using it and the collagen has been great for my skin. Go check it out!
Smoothie bowl
I am also obsessed with smoothie bowls and this recipe translates beautifully to a thick summer smoothie bowl. If you would rather try it out as a smoothie bowl cut the liquid measurement in half and add a scoop of your favorite protein powder or collagen powder. You will thank me later! Again I use the BUBs Naturals collagen protein powder to make my smoothie bowls thick.
