Dry Brush
If you’re unfamiliar with dry brushing it is a body massage using a dry, stiff-bristle brush. It’s said to improve the appearance of cellulite, remove flaky skin, increase blood flow, aid in digestion, and detoxify the body. It’s even thought that dry brushing can reduce stress and leave you feeling invigorated.
Dry brushing unclogs pores making it easier for sweat, bacteria, and toxins to leave the body. As well as leaving your skin smooth and shiny by removing dead skin cells.
Dry brushing changed the game for my detox routines and skincare. After 30 days my mom and I noticed notable changes in our skin. The most noteworthy would be reduced signs of aging on my mom and reduced cellulite on my thighs. I highly recommended incorporating dry brushing into your daily routine but it’s very important to do it properly. Click here to be taken to an article on dry brushing 101.
Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is my favorite wellness item that I wouldn’t be able to live without now. Chlorophyll is the pigment that is responsible for plants’ green color. It has a list of health benefits such as promoting weight loss, detoxing the body, aids in clearing acne, reducing body odor, and helping wounds heal faster. After the first day of adding these chlorophyll drops to my water I noticed zero body odor after a full day in my garden and working out. After 15 days my skin was completely clear (I only had one or two blemishes) and I noticed an increase in my daily energy. We have an article that goes in-depth on some of the benefits of chlorophyll water (“5 Benefits of chlorophyll water”).
Juicer
I know juicing has been a wellness trend for a decade but it picked up quite a bit of traction on tik tok this past year rightfully so. Which made me want to include it anyway. Juicing has been a staple in my wellness routine for a little over a year now due to the anti-aging, detoxing, and immunity benefits you get. I highly recommend purchasing a juicer if you don’t already have one. Make sure to check out our tik tok for juicing recipes because how beneficial your juice is for health depends on the ingredients!
Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil has been dubbed the ultimate weapon against hair loss and in my experience it is. It promotes circulation to scalp follicles, reduces inflammation, and promotes nerve growth. Which protects and stimulates hair follicles due to increased circulation. I religiously use rosemary oil and have for almost a year. It was one of the only products that helped me reverse hair loss from lupus. Right now I have been applying the drops directly on my scalp, massaging it in with a rubber scalp massager, and then letting it sit for 5-10 minutes before washing my hair a couple of times a week. You can add it to your shampoo, dilute it with water in a spray bottle, or apply it directly to your scalp. I find it easier to just directly apply it but have used it in my shampoo as well!
Tea Bundle
Anyone whos into wellness would LOVE a tea gift basket. This was my favorite out of 3 I tried. All the teas were high quality, provided noticeable medicinal results, and were affordable. This set comes with teas for PH balance, sleep, immunity, detoxification, brainstorming, and metabolism. I will also link my favorite individual teas below if you want to check them out.
A great pairing with a tea bundle would be an electric kettle. No one has the time to heat the water on the stove and if you’re into wellness you most likely avoid using the microwave. Click here to check out the electric kettle I have!
Silk pillowcase
Silk pillowcases can help you to avoid facial wrinkles and damaged hair caused by traditional pillowcases. Silk is a non-friction fabric allowing hair and skin to glide across it freely. If you want to go the extra mile get a pair of matching sheets. There is nothing like a silk pillowcase and sheets. I get the best sleep of my life now!
Sunrise alarm clock
Sunrise alarm clocks help regulate your circadian rhythm by slowly increasing light to wake you up at a certain time. It mimics natural sunlight which is one of the most important factors of regulating and maintaining a healthy circadian rhythm. The Hatch Restore 2 is also a white noise machine giving you gentle alarms in the morning and calming sounds to soothe you to bed at nightThis has to be one of my favorite wellness Christmas gifts of the season and is personally on my gift list!
Oil Pulling
Oil pulling saved me from having to get two cavities pulled. If you are unfamiliar oil pulling is the process of swishing coconut oil around in your mouth like you would mouthwash. Oil pulling is nothing new; it is an ancient practice that has been used to whiten teeth, freshen breath, and improve dental health by reducing the bacteria in the mouth that can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. This is the coconut oil I use and swear by. I oil pull 1-3 times a week from anywhere from 5-20 minutes. I make sure to at least get one 20-minute session in a week. Talk with your dentist for more information!
Tongue scraping
Tongue scraping aids in removing debris, dead cells, and bacteria that are responsible for oral diseases. It also can prevent toxins from making their way to your GI system disrupting overall gut health. The mouth is the start of the GI tract making it one of the many puzzle pieces of a healthy gut. Your breath will also be fresher than it ever has. I can’t imagine not tongue-scrapping now after having tried it. It has also helped with dry mouth. Scrapping the tongue activates saliva production and has helped me avoid dry mouth. The coconut oil I linked has a tongue scraper included!
Non-toxic living products
Non-toxic living is essentially a lifestyle that removes harmful chemicals from your home and body. I wanted to share my favorite non-toxic alternatives that didn’t make me feel as if I was giving up products I loved. We have a couple of posts on non-toxic living if you’re interested in reading a little more on that (“Why I switched to non-toxic living”, “Non-toxic kitchen swaps”). But let’s look at a few products that are staples in my non-toxic living routine.
Non-toxic cookware
Non-toxic cookware was one of the most important swaps for me because when I spend the time cooking healthy food the last thing I want is harmful chemicals as the seasoning. Popular cookware contains the “non-stick” feature which is made up of Teflon among other harmful chemicals(PFAs, PFOs, etc) that are known as “forever chemicals”. That can cause a list of health and environmental effects. To learn more check out our blog post on “Non-toxic kitchen swaps”.
I couldn’t immediately throw out all my pots and pans and go spend $400 on a non-toxic set. I just recently got this caraway set and I’m in love. Pots and pans can be expensive so I have linked price-friendly options below you can check out!
Non-toxic lotion
Your skin is like a sponge – soaking up any products that are applied to it. This is why a product you apply all over your body like lotion should be made with skin-safe ingredients. Finding a non-toxic lotion that works the same as a chemical-filled one is harder than it seems. After trying a handful of brands I gave Attitude products a go and haven’t looked back since. This is one of the most important wellness trends because it has educated people on what they are putting onto their skin to be absorbed.
Also, a good keynote would be searching for a product on the Environmental Working Group (EWG) product search page. It will rank the product on a scale of 1-10 based on the ingredients and the research done on them. I double-check all my products on the EWG to be informed of what I’m putting on my body.
Dr. Bronner soap
Dr. Bronner Castille is an all-in-one soap you can use for just about anything. Depending on how you dilute it you can use it to wash the dishes, body wash, face wash, shampoo, makeup remover, etc. It’s non-toxic, skin safe, and versatile. Adding this to my household was one of the best decisions I’ve made on my journey of non-toxic and sustainability. It can be a little pricey which is why I added it to this list. This would be nice in a little gift basket of non-toxic household items!
