Lupus rashes can appear all over the body. One of the most annoying and uncomfortable places they can manifest is on the fingers in my experience. In today’s post, I’m going to cover how I manage a lupus rash on my fingers.
Like any other Lupus rash a rash on the fingers is going to come with a lot of inflammation so my routine for managing any type of lupus rash is focused on reducing inflammation. There are a few ways you can do this; eating anti-inflammatory foods, CBD cream, anti-inflammatory herbs (ex. turmeric), and avoiding further irritation by avoiding triggers.
Avoiding your triggers while having symptoms/ a flare is easier said than done most times. But if you’re able to stay out of the sun that is always the biggest environmental trigger for lupus rashes everywhere on my body. Second, in line would be to avoid extreme cold/ hot temperatures while you’re having symptoms flare. This is the quickest way to let the flare pass. Being exposed to triggers will prolong the flare so I try my best to stay away from my biggest triggers.
If you can’t avoid the sun make sure to drape something over your hands just to give your hands some type of barrier. A UV umbrella would be ideal and help protect you from any further irritation. Click here to check one out on amazon if you don’t already have one.
I like to hit any Lupus rash of mine with the holy trinity of inflammation relief; anti-inflammatory foods, CBD, and avoiding triggers.

I start with a good CBD cream, oil, scrub, etc. To get the ball rolling. CBD applied topically has an anti-inflammatory effect and works the fastest because you can immediately apply it. Let’s check out my favorite CBD products.
Truly Beauty has the best CBD products I’ve tried price-wise, effectiveness, and skincare-wise. I’ve been using Truly CBD products to manage pain even before I got diagnosed so I really have tried everything they have! My top three of their CBD products are the Unicorn body butter, the Blueberry Kush body lotion, and the Blueberry Kush body oil. All three of these provide almost instant relief. I Like to put the CBD oil on first then on top I’ll go in with the lotion or body butter for extra relief.
I’ve got everyone in my family turned on to Truly products. You just have to try it for yourself. CBD has been a game changer in managing my lupus pain effectively and quickly.

Tea
Turmeric tea is my favorite for reducing inflammation. Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and has been a lifesaver when it comes to reducing lupus pain. Traditional Medicinals is the brand I like to buy. I’ve tried a few different brands and I noticed the most relief drinking theirs. If I’m experiencing a prolonged rash or inflammation I will drink 3 cups a day. It’s super easy – boil some water then let your tea bag steep for 15 minutes. Let it cool down and you’re ready! I also really like Traditional Medicinals because I’ve always been able to find them in-store unlike some of the other products I rely on to manage my lupus symptoms.
Anti-inflammatory diet
I eat an anti-inflammatory diet daily to reduce flares and manage my disease. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a cheat meal every so often or a day where I’m experiencing a couple of symptoms. On days like that, I like to make a smoothie packed with powerful anti-inflammatory ingredients or eat a sweet potato if I have one meal prepped. I swear by the combo of a sweet potato and a glass of turmeric tea for QUICK inflammation relief. But smoothies work just as well and I’m able to pack more anti-inflammatory ingredients and nutrients in them!
There are so many anti-inflammatory ingredients. I’m going to list out each section of ingredients I use to build a smoothie. You can make your own smoothie or follow my favorite recipe at the bottom of the page!

All foods on the list contain anti-inflammatory properties and would be good additives to a smoothie. I’m very picky about smoothies. I want one that actually tastes good but still is packed with fruits and veggies. The best way I’ve found to hide the veggie taste is to add a mix of fruit or a couple of cherries. For some reason, 1-3 cherries will make any smoothie extra sweet. Check out our Tik Tok for loads of smoothie recipes!
