A Lupus rash on the neck is one of the many places a lupus rash can manifest. I have an abundance of lupus rash-related posts and the perfect skincare formula I’ve come up with to manage and reduce them. But I felt like a lupus rash on the neck deserved its own post because I don’t see a lot of coverage about them and they are very much there.
I’m going to be covering some of the same products I use for my facial lupus rash plus a few I specifically use on my neck. I treat my neck with the same attitude as my face; gentle treatment, and the fewer products the better. So let’s jump right in and get to the nitty-gritty.
Before we get to my favorite products and how I manage my rashes I wanted to go over the best practices. If you already have a lupus rash on your neck you want to be careful of worsening it by exposing the skin to triggers. For me sun, extreme heat, extreme cold, and unregulated emotions will make any rash I have worse. So when your rash is out, be mindful and try to avoid triggers at all costs.
I always wear sunscreen on my face, neck, and hands to prevent any lupus rashes because the sun is a huge trigger for me. Check out the Elta MD sunscreen for a super gentle, lightweight sunscreen. I absolutely love Elta MD. The only downside is the price. Cerave AM moisturizer is an alternative that will keep your pockets happy!

Using a CBD oil/ cream to help calm down the inflammation is always my first course of action when dealing with any type of lupus rash. My favorite is the Truly Beauty Blueberry Kush CBD oil. I have the whole Blueberry Kush set that comes with the oil, face oil, body scrub, and lotion. I love EVERYTHING in the kit and think they are all great products to help combat Lupus symptoms. But the Oil is perfect for any lupus rash that pops up. CBD is known to reduce inflammation when applied topically and I notice a huge difference when applied to my lupus rashes. Almost instantly the inflammation and uncomfortableness is cut in half.
I seal the oil in with a lotion or body butter. Doing this cuts down on the oily/ running feeling. I’m very weird about feeling slippery after applying products but sealing in the oil seems to help! I use either the Blueberry kush CBD lotion for the full blueberry effect! Or I’ll opt for the Truly Beauty unicorn CBD body butter. I love both, it’s just whatever is closest to me at the time because they are both amazing.
If you find the CBD to be helping and want to incorporate more into your skincare routine I recommend checking out Truly’s CBD jelly face wash. I use this when my rash is out of control or needs to be hit a little harder than usual. It’s a great option though if you are dealing with an angry Lupus rash or just love CBD like me!
I’m so excited to be able to share a code with y’all! I’ve used Truly Beauty Cbd since the start of my journey with Lupus. Use code “AIPILL” for 15% off your order! Let me know what you get in the comments.
Ice roller/ Gua Sha
I have both a gua sha and an ice roller and I love them both for soothing a lupus rash. I keep them both in the fridge ready to use so if a rash pops up I can get quick relief. I love using a gua sha a tiny bit more because you can really give the affected area an ice massage and get in there. Both are great and can help provide quick relief though!
If you want to learn more about how to use a gua sha click here! The article linked goes over everything gua shaing 101.
An ice pack can be just as effective for quick relief when I have a raging Lupus rash anywhere on my body. I prefer a gua sha or ice roller but if I don’t have anything else an ice pack can suffice.
Foundation
My favorite foundation for covering any lupus rash is by far the IT Cosmetics CC cream. It’s a full-coverage foundation with SPF included. I will put it on to cover a lupus rash even when I’m not going anywhere. Having that barrier over a rash helps it calm down quicker and eases the discomfort. Give it a try for yourself. Next time your lupus rash makes an appearance, put a good amount of any foundation you have on and make sure to seal it with powder. Let me know if that makes a difference. Putting a barrier on my Lupus rashes has made worlds of a difference when it comes to the severity of the rash.
Lupus rashes in any place on the body can be extremely uncomfortable and bothersome. Depending on the place they can also cause large amounts of embarrassment for people suffering from them. Check out the post I tag below for more ways to combat, cover, and the overall best products for lupus skin. Let me know how you take care of a lupus rash on the neck in the comments!
