I post a lot of skincare-related posts but I thought it was necessary to have just your basic run-through of everything I do to keep my skin healthy and glowing. In today’s post, we are going to cover what products, tools, and tricks I use to keep my skin healthy.
I have dry skin – no moisture whatsoever so a lot of the products I use to focus on hydrating the skin. Leave a comment if you want a post on products for oily skin. Me and my mom’s skin are polar opposites. I remember when I was younger she would carry Neutrogena oil blotting paper in her purse. Obviously, I always wanted to use one too – rarely any oil would come off for me. Now that is not the case but the absence of oil can be caulked down to just how dry my skin was.
Best Practices
Before we get to the nitty gritty I want to go over a few best practices I live by that took me years to learn. Starting off with the temperature water I use when washing my face. I make sure the water is cold but closer to room temperature. I noticed a huge difference with my skin barrier using a gentle temperature on my skin.
This one is more of a hack but keeping your skincare products in your fridge is a game changer. Using a cold moisturizer wakes me up in the morning and feels luxurious in a way. There’s just one more best practice I wanted to go over and that’s exfoliating. I wash my face with a silicon pad. Iāve had amazing results clearing up my skin by gently exfoliating once a day. Keyword gently. Click here if you want to check out the ones I use.

Sunscreen
Every strong skincare routine starts with a good sunscreen. My hands-down favorite would be the Elta MD sunscreen. It is a little pricey but it’s my one expedition for expensive products. It’s gentle, does not leave me with a breakout, and doesn’t feel weird on your skin. A drug store alternative that your pockets will thank you for is the Cerave AM moisturizer.
Cerave’s Am moisturizer is defiantly no dupe to Elta Md’s sunscreen but 30-40 bucks for a sunscreen just isn’t doable for me all the time. I always try to ask for one as my birthday gift or get a gift card – it’s the easiest way for me to justify spending that much on a sunscreen. Elta Md’s sunscreen just works really well with my skin. If you have any cheaper alternatives leave a comment so I can check them out!
Face wash for dry skin
Now with the next part you might thinkā¦.that’s it? But when it comes to skincare my rule of thumb is less is more. I have the clearest and glowiest skin when Iām using a few products.
Gua Sha
I’m obsessed with using a Gua Sha. My face looks so snatched every time I use my gua sha. You do have to use oil so the stone can glide on your face. I like to use the Truly Beauty Blueberry Kush CBD facial oil. I was worried the first time I went to try it out because I really donāt like using a ton of products on my face but I have never had any issues using it and the CBD helps calm down any redness I might be having.

Moisturizer for dry skin
Cerave PM moisturizer is one of the best affordable options on the market for moisturizer. I have tried drunk elephant, tatcha, first aid beauty, and a few more. I think Ceraves moisturizer beats all of them and it’s cheap compared to other options. On my journey of trying out different moisturizers what made or broke one for me is if my skin felt moisturized the next morning or even in a few hours. Some of the other moisturizers I mentioned didn’t leave my skin moisturized for hours after. Which is what keeps me using my trusty Cerave Pm cream. Let me know what you use and if I should give it a try.
If you can believe it, that’s my whole skincare routine on a completely normal day. I try to use the least amount of products when possible! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using lots of skincare products. My skin just looks and feels the best when I keep it quick and simple.
