Although one smoothie alone won’t heal a leaky gut it will aid in the healing process. Supplementing smoothies into my diet to heal leaky gut has been one of my favorite ways to get in all my fruits and veggies. Healing leaky gut is multifaceted; meaning diet is only a piece of the puzzle. Still an important piece nevertheless. We can focus on eating a diet that promotes the growth of healthy gut bacteria. Before we get into what foods aid in healing the gut let’s look at what is leaky gut?
What is a leaky gut?
A leaky gut also referred to as intestinal permeability is categorized by little tears and breaks in the intestinal lining. That allows toxins, bacteria, and undigested food particles to be released into the bloodstream.
Foods that heal leaky gut
Raw cultured dairy: kefir, yogurt, raw cheese, and butter.
Sprouted seeds: Flax seeds, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds.
Omega-3-rich foods: wild-caught salmon, herring, grass-fed beef & lamb, etc.
Healthy fats: Avocado, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, etc.
Berries: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc.
Leafy greens: spinach, swiss chard, and kale.
Fermented foods: Kimchi, miso, and sauerkraut.
Vegetables: Cauliflower, broccoli, beets, brussels sprouts, carrots, arugula, zucchini, mushrooms, etc.

“5 Best Supplements to heal a leaky gut”
Knowing what foods can aid in repairing a leaky gut equips you to make your own gut-healthy smoothie recipes! But I wanted to share one of my favorites that helps me feel energized, satiated, and most importantly is packed full of ingredients that can aid in healing leaky gut!
If you’ve followed along with my journey of healing my Autoimmune diseases you know how important healing my leaky gut is in my journey. I’ve done a lot of post and free mini guides on all things healing leaky gut but I realized I hadn’t shared a lot of recipes that aided in the process. For a couple of reasons….
A smoothie to heal leaky gut is going to look different for everyone because smoothies help supplement foods I don’t get in day to day. This smoothie may not be for you but I will be sharing a handful more in the upcoming months. And because I share smoothie videos mainly on our tik tok account. But putting all the information in one place is helpful so I am starting a new series of smoothies that are gut healing and helped me on my journey of repairing my leaky gut.
leaky gut healing smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup Blueberries
- 2 cup Kale
- 2 cup Spinach
- 1/4 Avocado
- 1 tbsp Ground flax seeds or chia/hemp
- 1 tbsp Manuka honey
- 1 cup Almond milk or coconut water
- 1 scoop Protein collagen powder Bubs naturals is my favorite
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into blender. Blend until smooth (45 seconds to a minute) and enjoy!
Many factors control the health of your gut including stress management, antibiotic use, NSAID use, etc. Diet along with other lifestyle changes can aid in healing a leaky gut. Make sure to check out our other post on leaky gut for more information!
